Rainforest, highways and Australian wildlife

All our time in Australia so far we had spent cycling close to the coast and now wet finally decided to see some of the mountains further away from the coast. For that we cycled to Bellingen, found a great farm to pitch our tent and took a day to hitchhike to the amazing Dorrigo National Park. There we could walk through some original rainforest and see some really cool waterfalls.
Back on our bikes we got back to the coast and finally arrived in Woolgoolga at night. There we enjoyed a great Chinese dinner, nice conversations and some kangaroos right in their yard. Before leaving we gave Droni some exercise before starting our ambitious cycling of 105km to Maclean. The first 60km we had to cycle on the highway, so we just powered through and some tailwind helped us to get these done in just 3h. The rest of the day was a nice cycle along the river before arriving at our hosts Terry and Joyce. We had a great night, were given some delicious salmon for dinner (yes, Vroni eats salmon now) and could even feed Kevin the kookaburra out of the hand.
The next day was more boring highway cycling until we got to a smaller street along the river and into Ballina. Just before arriving in the city we got a positive response from Michael, another Warmshowers host. With about 200km of cycling done in the two prior days, we decided to stay with Michael and his family for two nights. On our day off, Michael took us on a small ride to a small rainforest park where we could even see some pademelons which are small forest kangaroos - super cute. The rest of the day was relaxing and organizing ourselves, including cutting the new video.

From here we will go up into the hills again before we reach Brisbane in the next days.

Greetings from down under,
Keep cycling and a tailwind,
Vroni, Droni & Joni
