Just today we realized that it is just one month left until we get on our plane to Christchurch, New Zealand. The time runs through our fingers but we could check off another important step towards being (more or less) ready for our adventure. With our new bikes, there are several parts on our bikes that are totally new for us. In order to be prepared for all possible situations, we asked the owner of the bike shop Fahrradecke Erlangen whether he could give us a little workshop on the things we did not know yet. He agreed and we set a date for Saturday, December 3.
After lunch we went to Fahrradecke Erlangen where we were welcomed and asked to get one of our bikes into the workshop. There Eberhard took a lot of time to explain how to take care of our Rohloff Speedhub for example. Also, we did not know how to do maintenance for our new hydraulic Magura breaks. With all his experience, Eber(hard) could give us some great tips on how to handle situations in which we might lack the right spare parts, like stuffing grass into your tires if you do not have any inner tubes for your tires left. Lastly he showed us how to adjust and level the spokes if your tire does not run fully round anymore. We left with a few small additional pieces of equipment and a lot of useful information. Now we are prepared to face all mechanical difficultis. Hopefully. :-D
With only one month to go, we are still waiting for our bike bags, some sponsored maps, a few pieces of photo gear and our lovely DJI Mavic Pro drone to arrive. We will keep you posted about all exciting things to come!
Stay tuned,
Vroni & Jonas
