The end of our cattle experience

Finally we have a new laptop and enough material to create a new video and a new post. After some problems with our new laptop and setting it up, we are back on track having it all set up and ready to go. We just finished our last week on Charlevue Cattle Station and it´s been a great time here. During the last month, one big task was mustering cattle from the different paddocks. That means we had to chase the cattle from each of the different paddocks into the yard close to the house, one paddock at a time. The next day we would chase them through the yards, sort them out as well as brand, vaccinate and castrate the small bulls that are not going to be used for breeding. After that we would chase most of the cattle back to there paddock. All that means long working days: getting up around 5 am and finishing work at around 6pm.

At first we planned to stay until the beginning of July but as we decided to stay longer, we had to find a faster way to get through the outback not to be in Darwin during the hottest time of the year. After different ideas we ended up buying a car, our perfect 1989 Nissan Patrol called Shelly. We are finally leaving, with both a sad and an excited eye but it is time for us to move on.

Hopefully we can post sooner again now, but we will have to see how the internet connection is in the outback :P.

All the best from Australia,
Vroni, Droni, Shelly and Jonas
