We spent two days in Geraldton before we kept cycling South. The wind had dropped and our first day back on the bikes was perfect. We had to stay on the highway for a little bit befor we turned off onto the Indian Ocean Drive. It is a really nice road along the coast with not too much traffic and nice camping spots. For our first night we had a free camp directly at the beach. A couple of other travelers were there as well and we spent a great evening with some other backpackers and had some drinks together. The next day we started early not to get too much wind as the wind usually picks up at noon time, but it was still alright to cycle. We had a long lunch break in Leeman and treated ourselves with some fish and chips that were recommended to us by some locals. We slept next to the raod during the next two nights and the wind got stronger and stronger - of course it was a straight headwind. On the fifth day of cycling it was no fun at all anymore, we were so slow and the road was super busy because of the weekend.
There were still over 100km left before we would get to Perth, so we changed our 'Water Welcome' sign to a 'Looking for a lift' sign. And it worked, after half an hour Jake stopped and rescued us. We could put our bikes into his boat he was towing and all our bags had space in his car. He brought us directly to our hosts Hazel and Nick. We met them in New Zealand in the beginning of February and they had invited us to stay with them if we ever get to Perth. We had a great time with them and could relax for a little bit. They showed us around in Perth and we did get some work done on our homepage before moving on

Taking a break every now and then is super important, so relax and enjoy.
Cheers,
Joni, Vroni and Droni
