The last cycling that we had to do from Krabi was just the 180km to the town of Surat Thani where we would board the train to get to Bangkok on time. We managed to set up a meeting with another travelling couple at Ratchaprapha dam to share the cost of the boat tour. Jolie and Mark are travelling in their Landcruiser from Australia to Europe and we got in touch with them on Instagram. Have a look at their great pictures and videos: T.W.O. thewayoverland on Instagram and on youtube (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC8f3B2wEbPb9r9b37-NIZKQ). The boat trip on the lake was beautiful and afterwards we found a spot to camp together. We set up our tent, they parked next to us and we had a great evening together, talking about our experiences on the road and everything else.
Our last challenge was reaching our train in Surat Thani on time and to get to Bangkok with all our gear. The train was scheduled for 20:15 and we managed to arrive at the station in the afternoon already. When the train arrived and we wanted to load the bikes into one of the freight carriages of the train, they told is that it was full and that they would send the bikes with the next train that would follow in 30 minutes. It felt horrible to leave our bikes behind but there was nothing we could do about it. The overnight train was surprisingly comfortable and we reached Bangkok in the morning. After a quick search we found our bikes in the same condition we left them. We were so relieved and only cycled to our Warmshowers host, Toom, this day to relax. The next day we decided to visit Bangkok a little bit. The easiest way to get to town was the ferry boats on the Chao Phraya river. In town we visited a few temples, had a walk around Chinatown, enjoyed the sunset at the river, had some nice street food and finally went back to our host in the evening.
All the best wishes from Thailand,
Keep cycling,
Vroni, Droni & Joni
