After our long Christmas break we flew from Perth to Adelaide. It was not that easy as we were having way too much luggage (15kg to be precise) and it would have been a lot to pay extra. Luckily we found another German couple who checked in a bag of ours weighing almost 10kg. Besides that we wore a lot of cloths and we managed to get in without paying anything. In Adelaide we were pretty spoiled and got picked up from the airport and we stayed with a family in Normanville we met on the Gibb River Road. The plan was to only stay a few days, but we ended up staying for almost two weeks. It was just so good to relax and spend time with Michael, Julie and their kids Emma, Jayden and Alice. When we started cycling towards Melbourne, we planned to stay close to the coast on the way to the Great Ocean Road, but it was just too windy. We decided to turn inland instead to have a bit less headwind. Australia Day (26.01.) we spent in Mount Gambier and got to know the area thanks to our host David. The Blue Lake was amazing as well as snorkeling in Ewen's Ponds was stunning. The water is amazingly clear but very cold.
From there we finally got to cycle along the coast until reaching the Great Ocean Road. The scenery was amazing and the rock formations were unique. One morning it was raining a bit and we got a lift for 30km which kept us dry and saved us some kilometers before we had to climb the first hills in a while, luckily it was not hot that day. We enoyed the view and loved cycling the winding Great Ocean Road.
From Anglesea we got a lift through the boring and more busy roads to Geelong and boarded the train into Melbourne there to not cycle in the city. Again we could stay with a family we met in Kununurra and it was great to see them Nicole, Mat, Charlotte and Grace again.

Our cycling on mainland Australia is over now and we still can't really believe that we made it from Sydney to Melbourne. It is almost a loop around that massive country and only the nothern end of Queensland and that bit between Melbourne and Sydney are really missing. Tasmania is going to be the next amazing place we will discover for round about five weeks. It's exciting to have a totally different landscape again and we are looking forward to some hills again.

Let's climb some hills,
See you,
Joni, Droni and Ronnie
